Voices of Appreciation

“With its rich tradition of literature, culture and cinema greats, Kolkata has been a cradle for the performing arts. I have been associated with Anamika Kala Sangam for nearly three decades now and every performance for them at Kalamandir has been a rewarding experience for erudite audiences. Just a couple of years back , thanks to the kind support of Sandeep Ray I paid tribute to Satyajit Ray on his centenary by filming his original story Golpo Boliye Tarini Khuro in Hindi as The Storyteller. The film premieres on 28th January on Disney Hotstar. I had never imagined I would play Gandhi but thanks to the inspiring doyen Bharat Dabholkar I played the Mahatma in Nathuram Godse Must Die. It was challenging and I am glad Kolkata loved it.”

“I have been coming to Kolkata since the 80s with our team to perform different plays . Anamika kala sangham has always been graciously inviting us and we always found audiences in Kolkata to be very responsive and appreciative. From comedies like Bottoms up and its various versions to other serious plays we have always received an overwhelming response in kolkata. And this time coming with a completely different type of a play NATHURAM GODSE KO MARNA HOGA , the response was the same. We always look forward to coming to Kolkata with every new play that we launch.”

— Bharat Dabholkar

“Kolkata is always a joyous celebration for me. From exploring the vibrant Durga pandals to indulging in mouth-watering street food, savouring Macher jhol bhat, and delighting in varieties of Sandesh, every aspect of the city charms me. I relish the enchanting old-world allure of Kolkata, whether it’s leisurely boat rides on the Princep Ghat or immersing myself in its rich literature and cinema. It’s truly an honor to present our play Nathuram Godse ko Marna Hoga in Kolkata, performing for an audience that has appreciated the works of many esteemed playwrights. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Anamika Kala Sangam for hosting us and taking exceptional care of our cast and crew, ensuring that the entire process was organized seamlessly”.

And if it's in a city like Kolkata which has been a centre of culture, tradition and various performing Arts and theatre being the most Ancient!! I was damn excited to perform in Kolkata as it was my first encounter with the city and it’s lovely Audience… and that too in a Play like Nathuram Godse Ko Marna Hoga..which tells you about some hidden chapters of our History which never came to our attention and was buried deep inside shackles of History!! I must tell you it was a thrilling and a very satisfying experience at the same time to perform in front of such a Great Audience. Anamika Kala Sangam was a great Host.
