Since its inception, Sangam has been a beacon of cultural excellence, bringing the finest in performing arts to the people of Kolkata. From music and dance to theatre and fusion forms, Sangam has curated an exceptional array of programmes, embodying class and sophistication. Memorable performances like the Bolshoi Ballet and the Russian Circus set new benchmarks for audience engagement, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

Expanding its reach, the Youth Wing was created to inspire younger generations, while the Film Club catered to cinema lovers. With the ‘Kaal ki Kalakar’ series, Sangam championed the promotion of young, emerging talents, giving them the platform to shine in the performing arts world. Collaborative initiatives, such as theatre education programs conducted in partnership with the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, further strengthened Sangam’s role in nurturing new talent in schools and colleges.

Sangam proudly celebrated its Silver Jubilee, a milestone marked by the presentation of numerous legendary figures in performing arts. A testament to its legacy, the two-volume anthology ‘Rasa’, written by masters in their respective fields, stands as a symbol of Sangam’s unwavering dedication to the arts. Yet, rising operational costs began to challenge the sustainability of Sangam’s efforts, making it difficult to continue relying solely on member subscriptions.
